Tom Walling has had a lifelong interest in music with formal studying beginning at age 10.  Growing up he was active in all school music ensembles (jazz, drum line, pit band, etc) and played in several bands in high school that opened for Pantera, Cro Mags, Suicidal Tendencies.  Tom majored in jazz performance and music education at University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA earning a BA and Masters in Teaching.  He was a recipient of The Music Educators National Conference Award in 1996.  He has performed and recorded with Gravy, Huffamoose, K-Floor, Rosella Washington, Symphony X, Mia Johnson, Burndown Allstars, Dave Quicks, Stereo Transmitted Disease and The Deb Callahan Band.  His influences include John Bonham, Billy Cobhan, Bill Stewart, Tony Williams, Buddy P.and Gene Krupa.  He has been part of the Music Workshop faculty from 1999 till the present teaching on average 30 students a week.  He has been performing with The Deb Callahan Band since December of 2007.  In his free time he is a frustrated gourmet without the gourmet budget.  He is also into homebrewing and screaming for the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers and Sixers.  He dislikes anything Dallas, not running out a ground ball and cash bars.
